Let's get started!

Below is a suggested outline to maximize your learning experience throughout this course:

Week 1: Dive into lessons 1 through 5, laying a strong foundation for your guitar journey.

Week 2: Progress to lessons 6 through 9, building upon the skills and knowledge acquired in the first week.

Week 3: Challenge yourself with the 7 Day Challenge, putting your newly acquired abilities to the test and solidifying your understanding of the material.

Lesson 1: How You Hold Your Guitar

Ever wondered what's the very first thing to grasp when embarking on your guitar journey? It's the art of holding the instrument correctly. This seemingly simple step is paramount to your progress.

It ensures you sidestep potential pitfalls like wrist strain and poor technique. Need a demonstration? I've got you covered with a helpful video tutorial. And if you're without a guitar strap, consider it a worthwhile addition to your gear arsenal for added stability.

Lesson 2: How You Tune Your Guitar

Let's be real: even the virtuosos among us can't work miracles with an untuned guitar. It's a fundamental skill we can't overlook. Tuning should be as instinctive as breathing. While it may seem daunting at first, with a bit of dedication, it'll become second nature.

Join me as we delve into the string names and I lead you through the tuning process, breaking it down step by step. Soon, you'll navigate it effortlessly, avoiding the pitfalls like a seasoned pro.

Lesson 3: How You Hold A Guitar Pick

There's nothing quite like the journey of learning guitar, is there? And when it comes to companions, the guitar pick is a guitarist's best mate. But not all picks are created equal, and knowing which one suits you best is key.

Equally important is mastering the grip. Join me as I delve into the nuances of holding the guitar pick in this video, presenting you with a variety of options to ensure your guitar sings with the perfect tone.

Lesson 4:

Greetings, and welcome to our first official lesson! Today, we'll be immersing ourselves in the Spider Exercise, a renowned drill often credited to Justin Sandicore, the trailblazer of online guitar tutorials. Back in the day, it was Justin and guitar tabs ruling the scene.

Speaking of which, our focus today is our maiden guitar tab. Don't be intimidated by its complexity; think of it as a roadmap for your guitar journey. Together, we'll navigate it smoothly.

Lesson 5: Your 2 Chord 1st Song

In this lesson, we're delving into our first two chords, coincidentally used in the timeless song 'A Horse with No Name.' Though the strumming pattern might be a touch more complex than what we'll start with, it's fantastic practice for our chord transitions. So, let's seize this chance to refine our skills and enjoy the journey of mastering these foundational chords!

Lesson 6: The C & G Chords

In today's lesson, we're stepping up our chord game with the introduction of two new ones: C and G. We'll follow a similar approach to last time, starting with just two fingers to ease into it. For those eager to push ahead, I'll offer some guidance on advancing further.

These chords form the backbone of your guitar skills, allowing you to strum along to countless songs! Now, many of my students encounter hurdles with the C chord. Early guitar playing requires finger agility, coordination, and wrist flexibility. But remember, perseverance pays off! Keep practicing, aiming for at least 10 minutes a day.

Lesson 7: Learning the D Chord

In this lesson, we're tackling our first three-finger chord: D. It's a chord I particularly enjoy—it has this wonderfully proud sound! If you've been practicing non-stop, perhaps it's time for a breather.

Building finger dexterity, wrist flexibility, and calluses takes patience. Aim for 10-30 minutes of daily practice to gradually improve. And don't forget, if you encounter sharp pain in your fingers or wrist, don't ignore it; take a break and let yourself recover.

Lesson 8: Rhythm 101 How To Strum

In this lesson, we're getting back to basics. It's imperative to solidify the fundamentals before venturing into more advanced territory like complex strumming and challenging songs.

Mastering chord changes at a slower tempo is key before attempting faster speeds, particularly if your ambitions include playing with speed or singing along. Let's prioritize laying a sturdy groundwork today!

Lesson 9: Chord Strumming using 8ths

In this session, we delve into 8th notes and our first strumming pattern. Remember, it's paramount to start off slowly and gradually increase your speed. Although I haven't emphasized it earlier, utilizing a metronome can greatly assist in this process. Well done on completing week 1!

Get ready for week 2, where we'll delve deeper into our knowledge and skills, taking them to new heights.
